ABOUT THE ARTISTS

-Robert Randolph-

IS FRESH OFF OF HIS 2026 GRAMMY WIN FOR BEST CONTEMPORARY BLUES ALBUM FOR HIS 2025 ALBUM "PREACHER KIDS"

As one of the most innovative and influential pedal steel guitarists of his generation, Robert Randolph blends gospel, rock, blues, and soul in a way that speaks to both his musical roots and modern-day artistry. His highly anticipated new solo album, Preacher Kids, set for release on Sun Records, marks a pivotal moment in his career. Produced by Shooter Jennings (known for his work with Brandi Carlile and Tanya Tucker), this album captures Randolph stepping outside of his work with the six-time Grammy-nominated Robert Randolph & The Family Band.

Recorded at Sunset Sound Studios in Los Angeles and Zac Brown’s Southern Ground Studios in Nashville, the project features a collective of musicians who, like Randolph, grew up as preachers’ kids. Together, they share stories of transitioning from church music to the world of rock and blues, while never losing the powerful spiritual connection that first inspired them. The sessions for this album began as a series of jam sessions, with Randolph and the band focusing on capturing the raw, live energy of their sound. Later, these jams were rounded out with songwriting sessions, where the songs took shape, maintaining the spirit and spontaneity of their original creation.

Raised in a close-knit, music-loving family, Randolph kicked off his musical journey in the House of God Church in Orange, New Jersey. It was there that he learned to play the pedal steel guitar, or “Sacred Steel,” a cornerstone of the church’s musical tradition. Randolph was immersed in the joy and intensity of gospel music from an early age. As a teenager, he honed his skills during church services, channeling the soulful, ecstatic energy of worship through his instrument. It wasn’t long before he began taking that energy outside the church, bringing his gospel-infused style to secular audiences and blazing a trail in the jam band, rock, and blues scenes. Over the years, Randolph has earned a reputation not only as a pedal steel guitar virtuoso but also as an acclaimed producer and composer.

He has also contributed to major musical moments across genres. Randolph performed with Luke Combs on a Charley Pride tribute for CMT, played on Jon Batiste’s We Are, which won the Grammy for Album of the Year, worked on the Elvis movie soundtrack, and performed on the Zac Brown Band’s tour. Most recently, he celebrated the Grammy win for Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, for which he contributed pedal steel in “16 Carriages” and “Ya Ya.”

His reputation has led to collaborations with a diverse array of artists, including Dave Matthews Band, Santana, Norah Jones, Ozzy Osbourne, Eric Clapton, Rob Thomas, Hank Williams Jr., Elton John, Leon Russell, Raphael Saadiq, Robbie Robertson, Taj Mahal, Metallica, and Sheryl Crow.

His talent has also earned him 13 Emmy Awards for music scores featured in sports broadcasts across major TV networks. For the second consecutive year, Randolph was tapped to provide the theme music for Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football for both the pregame and halftime segments.

Though Robert Randolph’s work with the Family Band includes critically acclaimed albums like Unclassified, Colorblind, Lickety Split, and Brighter Days, his current projects are paving the way for a new chapter. Drawing from his gospel roots while exploring new musical landscapes, Randolph effortlessly blends the sacred and the secular. His music connects with fans across different genres, driven by a sound that is both deeply soulful and joyfully alive

-Ally Venable-

Texas blues-rock singer/songwriter and guitarist extraordinaire, Ally Venable, entertains wherever she goes. With her signature glitter dresses and black knee-high boots, Venable comes off of the ropes swinging dazzling crowds on tour or throughout the festival circuit. "Venable pulls off a stunner of gritty and/or sultry blues rock tunes embellished with lots of tasty guitar solos." - Guitar Player Magazine. A Kilgore, Texas native, Ally began singing at church at four and picked up the guitar at age 12. By 13, she started her own band and through her early influence of Stevie Ray Vaughan captured the passion and yearning for more in the blues genre. Early releases No Glass Shoes (2016) and Puppet Show (2018) started her fanbase, charting radio play, and several East Texas Music Awards. It was 2019’s #2 Billboard Blues charting Texas Honey and rocking sets on Ruf’s European Blues Caravan tour that propelled her internationally. “Ally is the future of blues and the crossover music of American roots-rock.” - Mike Zito. In what silenced many musicians during the pandemic, Venable now in her 20’s, released another Blues Billboard charting album, Heart of Fire (2021), which challenged her to write not only about love but the unguarded honesty of feeling pain.”On this album,I really wanted to create a tone of overcoming your struggles and persevering through them,” she explains. Mentor and featured artist on this album, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, lends his guitar skills on XM Bluesville’s charted song, “Bring on the Pain.” In 2022, Guitar World Magazine named Ally #2 on the top 15 Young Guns Making the Gibson Les Paul Cool Again, and she received the Road Warrior award from the Independent Blues Music Awards. Along with Ally’s own tour domestically and in Europe, her band has supported Buddy Guy and Kenny Wayne Shepherd throughout the US, as well as Colin James in Canada. She has performed as a featured artist on the Experience Hendrix Show at the ACL Live at Moody Theater in Austin, Texas. Fans are anticipating Venable’s upcoming spring 2023 release produced by Grammy award winning producer, Tom Hambridge, which includes a duet with the iconic Buddy Guy and a song featuring powerhouse guitarists Joe Bonamassa.

-The Steve L. Johnson Band-

Steven Johnson is the grandson of the late blues icon Robert Johnson, King of the Delta Blues and the Father of Modern Rock and Roll. He has been featured on Netflix, in Sony Music interviews, the History Channel and in various magazines carrying on the legacy and heritage of his grandfather. He has performed internationally with bands from France, Canada, and across the United States several of the 29 songs written by Robert Johnson.

In 2023, Steven, along with his dear friend and band manager Donovan Scott joined together to form The Steve L. Johnson Band. The main focus of the band is to preserve the songs and sounds of Robert Johnson music and perform cover songs from the 70's , 80's , 90's and even today.

Steven brings the sounds of Robert Johnson's music alive with his thunderous preacher man's like only he can. Together with the band, RJ's music has come full circle through his birthright and heritage.

-Rory Block-

Rory Block is a legendary blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter, known for her powerful and authentic interpretations of traditional country blues and her own original compositions. Born in Princeton, NJ, she grew up in Manhattan and was immersed in the Greenwich Village folk music scene, where she met influential figures like Bob Dylan and Maria Muldaur. At 15, she embarked on a journey to learn directly from blues legends like Skip James and Mississippi John Hurt, becoming a prominent figure in the blues world.

Rory will be releasing a new record in late 2025 on the New York-based M.C. Records label. Rory talks about the upcoming record:

"I am very excited to announce that I will be a recording a brand new project for M.C. Records! I expect to be tapping into my lifelong love of American roots blues, celebrating the founders and best of the classic blues legends, and maybe some of my own originals. The recording will be filled with slide, overlapping acoustic parts, and funky rhythms. Can’t wait to get started!!"
